The Mission of the Marine Corps Rifle Squad is to what?

The main concept being tested is the rifle squad’s core combat task: locate the enemy, close with them, and destroy them by fire and maneuver, while also repelling their assault with fire and close combat. This embodies how a Marine infantry squad fights—actively seeking out the enemy, maneuvering to bring superior firepower to bear, and defeating them before they can break through, while standing ready to repel any direct assault at close range. This description captures both offensive and defensive duties of the squad: you engage and defeat the enemy through coordinated fire and movement, and you defend against an enemy assault with close-range fire and continuous contact. The other options describe tasks outside the rifle squad’s primary mission—securing supply lines is a logistics/engineering or security role, defending airspace is an air defense mission, and conducting amphibious landings involves operating with larger forces and amphibious craft.
